Columbia City, Indiana (April 7, 2015) – Ultra Electronics – USSI announces today that it has received a multi-unit order from a large oil and gas provider in the Asia-Pacific Rim. The customer will utilize HyperSpike’s HS-14 and HS-Micro Acoustic Hailing Devices (AHD) to achieve force protection, perimeter security, and mobile land base operations that require long range communication.
The HyperSpike HS-14’s total weight is a mere 37 lbs. (16.78 kg) allowing an operator to move the AHD from a mobile vehicle to a land-based tripod in a matter of seconds. Operators of the HS-14 have the capability to send highly intelligible voice communication messages to an intended target that is approximately 1500 meters (1,640 yards) away. The HS-14 has a peak acoustic output of 148 dB, ensuring that powerful deterrent tones and voice messages will be heard by intended subjects. Operators have the option to power the HS-14 from a vehicle, a vessel, or a battery pack. These features of the HS-14 enhance security responders’ capability to warn subjects who are in unauthorized areas.
“Our Acoustic Hailing Devices are designed to withstand some of the harshest environmental conditions,” said Tim Barnes HyperSpike’s Technical Sales Manager. “Our devices go through rigorous military testing to ensure full operation during deployments.”
The customer will also deploy HyperSpike’s HS-Micro, a hand portable AHD. The HS-Micro packs a peak acoustic output of 140 dB, allowing messages to penetrate high background noise environments to reach intended targets up to 500 meters (546 yards) away. With rugged carbon fiber housing, the HS-Micro weighs only 18 lbs. (8.16 kg) allowing for quick and easy transport. The HS-Micro is battery powered and has the ability to operate for up to eight hours. The battery can be easily exchanged with another fully charge battery for extended use.
