Ultra Electronics-USSI Awarded Multi-Year, Multi-Million Dollar Contract from Strategic Partner in Southeast Asia

06 January 2016

Ultra Electronics USSI announces today that it has been awarded a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract for Acoustic Hailing Devices (AHDs) from strategic partner, IPS Securex, in Southeast Asia. The HS-14 was selected because of its superior clarity, acoustic capabilities, ruggedized lightweight design, simple integration, and versatility.

The peak acoustic output of the HS-14 is 148 dB with an exceptional speech transmission index (STI) rating of 0.81 out of 1.0, which allows the user to communicate up to 1500 meters with clear, intelligible voice while overcoming high background noise environments. A wide frequency range of 300Hz – 8kHz gives the user an array of capabilities from powerful high frequency deterrent tones to low frequency authoritative voice commands. The unit comes equipped with a record play microphone which enables the user to create voice messages on the fly and still achieve full scale output. Operators can also select a preloaded track from the integrated internal file player which can store up to 16GB. The HS-14 is configurable for diverse applications from small craft and vehicle operations to static installations for perimeter protection. Operators have the option to power the HS-14 from a platform, vehicle, a vessel, or a battery pack.

This award is the latest for the successful Ultra Electronics USSI /IPS Securex team.

“IPS Securex has been a long standing partner for distribution of HyperSpike products in Asia. Customers in Asia have selected HyperSpike as their communications means for force protection and civil applications because of its reputation as a reliable, compact, and transportable device.”

said Patrick Allison, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

The HyperSpike product line is designed to meet the demands of extreme conditions and the HS-14 is no exception. The HS-14 has withstood rigorous MIL-STD testing for land and maritime environments. The carbon fiber reinforced housing is rugged but light, giving the unit a total weight of 37 lbs.
